Episode 7: Money Blocks that Will Hold You Back in 2023
Happy New Year. It is officially 2023, and this is the time of year when you can start to think about what you want from this year. Personally, I am looking forward to this next year because I have so many ways that I plan to help you with your money in 2023.
The Money Mapping Masterclass, which will be filled with a ton of value and a lot of my best content, inspired today's podcast because what I'm talking about today developed as I worked through my masterclass. I was working with one of my coaches, and I told her that I genuinely believed that money mapping was much more effective than budgeting and helping you build wealth. She asked me if I believed that, then how come everyone in my life hasn't adopted the money mapping system yet? I thought it was such a brilliant question because it made me think about the people that I love the most, the people with that I want financial success, for the people I want to be happy and healthy and abundant; why is it that they are resistant to using the system that I've created with money? I found some common themes in mindsets and developed what I now call the four money blocks, or four disempowered money mindsets, that prevent you from building wealth. I want to go through these four mindsets, talk through them, and then show you what you're missing.

Notable Quotes
Wealth building is not about cutting back; wealth building is actually about having more of what you want in your life. It's about getting clear on your financial priorities and what will help you have more freedom, more ease, and less worry with money, and that is what wealth building is.
Budgeting is not what helps you build wealth; what helps you build wealth is getting clear on what you want more of in your life and learning to be in a relationship with the having of money, with the having of wealth. So it's not an exercise of restriction; it's an exercise of expansion by learning to extract value from the money you have in your bank accounts, not only learning to extract value from the money you spend on stuff.
When the leading thought that you always have in your brain is that, “I don't have enough money.” When your brain is addicted to seeing that as the reality of your life, you will continue to create that as the reality of your life.
To have a relationship with money that isn't dictated by scarcity and fear and not enoughness, you've got to break your addiction to this belief about yourself that you don’t have money. You have to start trying new narratives about money, your ability to earn money, the amount of money you have, and how you care for it.
I believe in human resourcefulness. I believe there are so many different paths to financial independence and financial freedom. Starting to save and invest for your financial future in your early 20s is one way to build wealth and achieve financial freedom, but there are millions of other ways you can do this; it doesn't have to be that specific way.
Getting 1% better every day is what we work towards here at Holistic Money; we work on incremental financial change to get to where you want to go.
If you do notice a little bit of shame about your lifestyle, or how much money you're earning and how much money you're not saving and investing, I just want you to get more curious about this shame and start to have more compassion for yourself and start to understand what's driving this decision-making process.
You have to be able to look at what you're doing, address it, get more curious about it, develop new habits with your money, and understand that it's not how you want to move forward.
